Every man has a yearning in his soul that cannot be ignored. It is a longing for something greater than ourselves, and we will spend our lives searching for it. It cannot often be explained, but it can often explain us. It can explain what we do. How we do it. Our success and our failures. While we struggle to find words to describe this desire in the English language, the Hebrew warriors of the Old Testament had a word for it: Kavod.

Kavod speaks of a longing for glory. A glory that is greater than ourselves. And when reading the stories of these Old Testament warriors, something in us is awakened. We see ourselves in them. Either as we are or as we wish we were. We have the same longing for glory that they reveal to us. As David cried out to God to awaken his glory, we too cry out that God would awaken our glory.

In this podcast, we will look at the mighty men of scripture and see how they lived lives not for their own glory, but to the Kavod of Yahweh. The glory of the God of Israel. We will begin this podcast by looking at the greatest of the Old Testament Warriors, King David. But before we get to the story of David, we must first lay down the foundation that has led to Israel needing a godly king, and that begins in the beginning.
