Have You Thanked an Inventor Today? is a journey into the often-forgotten contributions of African-American inventors that contributed to the American landscape. It chronicles the school day of a little boy, highlighting different inventions that he uses throughout the day, all of which were invented by African-Americans.  The book comes complete with brief biographies about each inventor as well as fun activities to promote and encourage reading comprehension.  This story was selected by Microsoft as a book that inspires STEM and also received a 5 Star Rating from Reader's Favorite!

✅ ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Patrice McLaurin is an award-winning author, youth motivational speaker, and character education consultant.  She has been committed to empowering and enhancing young people, in various capacities, for almost 20 years. Her endeavors have included work both inside of the classroom and in community settings.

Patrice has published two wonderfully engaging STEM children's books that have received accolades from parents, students, and educators alike.  The goal of her books is to encourage children to recognize and tap into their ingenious inclinations. Both of her books highlight two segments of our least talked about inventors, African-Americans, and children!

Her first children's book, "Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?" was acclaimed by Microsoft as a Book to Inspire STEM and received the 5 Star Rating award from Reader's Favorite. It highlights inventions that were all created by African-Americans!  

Her follow up book, "Have You Thanked a Kidventor Today?" has been received with great enthusiasm by parents, teachers, and children alike. Patrice McLaurin is a native of Bessemer, AL, and a proud graduate of Alabama A&M University.  She currently resides in Lawrenceville, GA, with her husband and two children.
