Alissa Rumsey—now known for her work in freelance writing, private practice, and as an experienced spokesperson for the Academy—started, and loved, her career in clinical nutrition. During her clinical work, she also started writing, side-hustling, and at the suggestion of her boss (and mentor), applied to become a spokesperson. If you work somewhere for more than a few years, you learn a lot, develop key relationships, and may have an incredible mentor who helps push you in new directions. She may convince you that clinical is the right place to start. (You do you!)

Resounding theme: FIND YOUR PEOPLE.
