If you’re under the impression that the people who ‘make it’ are special in some way, I’m here to tell you that’s not true. The only thing special about me is that I was especially broken, especially damaged, especially sick and hurting.

For more than a decade, I lived in a haze of drugs and sex, desperately trying to feel whole. I was in the throes of full-on mental illness, stuck in an endless cycle of abusive relationships, and I didn’t know how to make it stop.

It wasn’t until I was forced into rehab that I made the mindset shift that finally freed me.

Today, I’m sharing my story in the hopes you’ll see that your dreams are possible. I describe my typical, middle-class American childhood and my transition from good kid to good-time girl. I explain what finally motivated me to pursue treatment and how my beliefs changed radically as a result.

I credit the therapist who gave me permission to try this whole blogging thing as a career and discuss how I taught myself photography and social media marketing. Finally, I speak to the evolution of my business model, from doing local work to earning sponsorships to offering retreats. Listen in to understand my recent decision to stop working for corporations and start working for YOU and get empowered to transform your life—with a creative online business of your very own.

If I can do it, so can you.
