Text:  Mark 15:16-32

The Shame He Endured for Sinners (Mark 15:16-20)

Jesus endured the mockery of the soldiers, the crowd, and the religious leaders. Jesus’ prediction in Mark 10:33-34 came to pass and fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah 50:6. Gospel Implication: Jesus bore the shame that we deserved as sinners (Hebrews 13:12-13).

The Suffering He Experienced for Sinners (Mark 15:21-27)

Jesus suffered the horrific pain and humiliation of being crucified. Jesus suffered under the weight of God’s wrath, bearing our sin on His shoulders. Gospel Implication: Jesus became a curse for sinners who deserved judgment (Isaiah 53:12; Galatians 3:13-14).

The Salvation He Extends to Sinners (Mark 15:29-32)

Jesus was accused of not being able to save others because He chose not to save Himself. Gospel Implication: Because Jesus did not save Himself, He was able to bring salvation to all who repent and believe in His name (Romans 8:32; 1 Peter 2:22-25).
