Matty J broadcasts live from Cable Beach for the Kimberley 9's event , a joint initiative by the Purple Hands Foundation and WA Police.

The Inaugural event is a reward and incentive to school aged students that have shown positive or improved school attendance, positive behaviour both in and out of school and have not been involved in youth crime within their communities. Schools have selected their teams from boys and girls that have attained the criteria.
In partnership with the WA Police, the program has committed to deliver this initiative in 2021 and 2022, and will see every new WA Police officer that passes through the WA Police recruitment process in the next two years, to be upskilled and receive their AFL Foundation Level Coach Accreditation.
This will strengthen the delivery mechanisms of the sport within communities in regional WA, as officers are matched up with their local school / community football program in the regions. By building positive relationships with the Police, it is hoped that a reduction in youth crime and an increase in school attendance will be a direct result.
This program outcomes include:
• Increase student attendance (reward & recognition)
• Provide opportunity to participate in structured football, linking participants to possible community sporting teams
• Strengthen relationship between students and the police within the community
