Flint radio broadcaster David O. Norris shares memories of a career in public and country radio broadcasting.  He shares how Flint came to proclaim itself as the "Country Music Capitol of the North".  He shares highlights of his decades long association with Maybelle Carter and Johnny Cash.  He also explains how community radio was launched in Flint. What started in Flint has become known as public radio. It grew using Flint, Michigan as a demonstration site for others to model and take across America.  This story gives us something to consider as local communities struggle to find a replacement for the loss of true local media broadcasting in the age of big media.
