Six months ago, location-independence was far from the norm. But the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. Suddenly 70% of Americans were working remotely. Many companies have fully embraced remote work. And nearly half of employees say they don't want to go back to the office.

At the same time countries have locked down their borders, airline companies have tanked, and the freedom of movement many digital nomads have become accustomed to has been taken away.

So what does the future hold?
