“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it’s stupid.” -Albert Einstein

Shannon Kaiser’s joy radiates to everyone around her. Her fire to help others find this joy within themselves is contagious. She is the best selling author of five books on the psychology of happiness and self-love.

10 years ago, you worked in the corporate world. What was the ah-ha moment that made you change your path?

In Joy Seeker you talk a lot about not looking outside of yourself for true happiness and contentment. I think most of us have something that we tend to distract ourselves with or fall into when we hit the tough moments in life. What is your advice on how to notice you might be doing this?

In your book you talk about visualizing the life you want. If you can’t do that, you will never get there.  What advice do you give to your clients in how to begin this process, and how detailed do you suggest people get with this?

Often in life, we are putting all of our energy into our work and others that we sometimes forget to care for ourselves. We have all heard the old adage “putting your oxygen mask on first”. Do you have any specific practices for our clients to help care for themselves first? And is there anything specific to look out for as a warning sign that this might be an issue?

On your website you have a sentence that I absolutely love: “I am not a fit in the box type of girl, and chances are, you aren’t either” and that’s so true. You hold everyone in life to that same expectation because we are all so beautifully different. What advice do you have in helping us all see ourselves and the people we care about for their strengths, regardless of how they might differ from ours?

What is one action step that you’d like to challenge our listeners with, which if they start today, will get them one step closer to their healthiest life?
