Welcome to Queer the Table! All season long, we'll be talking about the importance of gathering in queer community to eat together; so it feels important to start with a reminder that the right to do that- especially to do that visibly, and in public space, has been hard won. Tune in to hear the stories of three pre-stonewall era uprisings that took place in late night restaurants that served as safe spaces for queer folks- the Compton's Cafeteria Riot, The Dewey's Cafeteria Sit-In, and the Cooper's Donuts Riot. You can watch "Screaming Queens" here.
It's HRN's annual summer fund drive, this is when we turn to our listeners and ask that you make a donation to help ensure a bright future for food radio.
