Victoria’s weekend hobby quickly became her passion when she started Pittsburgh’s first mobile flower business. Her vision was to bring beautiful, fresh flowers to all of our unique neighborhoods, especially the places that typically never get a visit from a business like hers. And after purchasing a 1992 Daihatsu Hijet and getting it fixed up and painted, she was able to bring that vision to life. Her tiny vintage-green truck with hand-painted logo has become a recognizable part of the Pittsburgh landscape, especially when it’s brimming with colorful blooms. By the way, driving this little dynamo is no small feat. Not only is it a stick shift, but the steering wheel is on the right-hand side, so you have to shift with your left hand. Victoria took driving lessons and practiced for several months before braving the hilly, winding roads of Pittsburgh.
What do Victoria’s customers love most about her flower truck? It’s the ability to build their own customized bouquets with a little help, if needed. This is a kind of hands-on experience that you typically don’t get in a traditional flower shop. People enjoy the surprise of stumbling upon the truck while they’re out and about, which often results in a spontaneous and creative shopping adventure. So, keep an eye out, because once Victoria feels that she is able to safely set up shop again, I’m sure you’ll see her little green truck buzzing around the streets of Pittsburgh.
