Welcome to Season 1 of Project Markie, the podcast that's shining a light on the darkness of abuse endured by survivors. These are the first-hand accounts of survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking, and sexual assault. | The raw interviews on Project Markie you'll hear will make you cry, laugh, gasp, nod, and hum with the power of human resilience. | It is often at times of desperation that we are driven to make a last-ditch effort to change our situation. This comeback, in turn, can transform us into a whole new person — mentally, physically, and emotionally stronger than we ever could have imagined. | Champion Bikini Athlete, Advocate, and Entrepreneur Markie Williams has lived this struggle. After years of experiencing domestic violence and human trafficking, Markie found the strength and courage to escape her situation. She turned her pain into power, becoming a nationally recognized athlete, creating her personal fitness brand, and advocating for other victims of abuse, encouraging them to believe in life after abuse (#lifeafterabuse). | Markie Williams created “Project Markie” to share, for the first time in public, her story and personal experience with domestic violence and human trafficking. Through this podcast, she’s bringing to light the stories of those who have been confronted by incredible obstacles, traumas or challenges that may have led them to a very dark and hopeless place — and who were able to overcome the difficulties they faced and redefine their futures. | These are their incredible stories of transformation, healing and hope.
