Keenan Allen - Madden Rating

Add Keenan Allen to the list of players that are not happy about their madden ratings this season. Madden 20 releases early for Xbox One, PS4, and PC players early on July 25th and players will see low ratings. With only four players in the 99 overall club, not including cover star Patrick Mahomes, ratings are more moderate than years past. The excuses for most players from the "madden rating adjusters" has been the stretching of ratings this year. Whether this is true or not remains in question. Allen is tied with Amari Cooper and Julian Edelman at an 89 overall rating. Overall the madden ratings are an interesting topic to dive into.

If we strictly look at the stats of A.J Green, T.Y Hilton, and Davante Adams who are a few players above him, you see why Allen is only an 89. Green had the same amount of touchdowns (6) as Allen in only nine games. Wide receivers Hilton and Adams finished with more yards and combined for 19 touchdowns (13 for Adams). Stats aren't everything and multiple things play into a players rating, but Allen is rated just one overall too low. I would argue that Allen should be a 90 overall, but I'm not a madden rating adjuster.

The madden ratings have received their fair amount of criticism so week one will be one to watch both on the field and in the game. To have madden ratings that low is going to change the way the players play the game in a way we haven't seen before.

Drew Lock - Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos fans need to take a seat for this one. The Broncos second-round pick Drew Lock is off to a rough start. To quote head coach Vic Fangio word for word, Fangio told 9news.com that "He's not a QB yet...He's a hard-throwing pitcher who doesn't know how to pitch yet."

Why is this relevant for Denver Broncos fans? This means that "elite" QB Joe Flacco will start the season for their beloved team. There is nothing wrong with Flacco, but Broncos fans were looking to see Drew Lock. There were reports before the draft that the team liked him and passed on him at pick 10 in the first round, passed on Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins, and then traded down to pick 20. Then the Broncos and John Elway picked Lock in the second round. This showed promise as they picked up a valuable tight end in the first-round in Noah Fant from Iowa and then their potential future quarterback in Lock.

Questions from the podcast team

Do you think the Madden 20 ratings were done correctly? Who do you think needs to be given a raise in their ratings? Is Vic Fangio the man for the Denver Broncos job? Was the Drew Lock pick a mistake with the newest information we have received from Fangio?
