In this message, the Lord questions His disciples as to Who men say He is. They answer John the Baptist, or Elijah, or Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. We discuss the probably origins of each of these ideas. When He asks them Who they think He is, Peter answers He is the Christ, the Son of the living God. The Lord blesses him for this answer, and tells him that he is Peter, and on this rock He will build His church or ekklesia. What did the Lord mean by this? What is the rock? What is the church? Whatever he binds on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever he looses on earth will be loosed in heaven. What does this mean? He charges them to tell no one Who He is. Why not?
