We are praying that we will have that same heart of gratitude this holiday season for our family. That we will discover new creative ways to show them how much they mean to us by giving them some sort of gift of love.

I can't wait to hear what you come up with. We have also started a challenge to help us enjoy the holidays by focusing on what is truly important.

You can join Enjoy the Holiday Challenge by clicking here.

ACTION STEPS:

1) Determine your children, spouse, and family members' top love languages.

2) Think about the gifts and talents God has given you.

3) Come up with a way you can use your gifts and talents to show your love in the way your family receives it. Need help, email me! I love this type of thing.

4) Listen this week to Prayers From a Mom Podcast and join me in praying for this each day. You can also listen to Enjoying Your Blended Family and hear us talk on this important topic.

5) Sign up for the Enjoy the Holiday Challenge, there will be a book included.

FOCUSED PRAYER:

Father,

Thank you for loving us so much that you gave us your son. As I plan for this holiday season, I want that to be my focus. You created me in your image and you give good gifts to your children and I want to do the same. Give me new creative ideas to use my gifts and talents to express love to those I care most about in a way they receive it. Holy Spirit fill me with joy that overflows, the peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit this holiday season to the point that the fruit of the spirit spills over into all my relationships.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

SCRIPTURE FOCUS THIS WEEK:

Matthew 2:9-11 The Wise Men Visit

9 And on their way to Bethlehem, the same star they had seen in the East suddenly reappeared! Amazed, they watched as it went ahead of them and stopped directly over the place where the child was. 10 And when they saw the star, they were so ecstatic that they shouted and celebrated with unrestrained joy. 11 When they came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, they fell to the ground at his feet and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests full of gifts and presented him with gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

John 3:16

16 For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.

Luke 11: 11-13 Jesus Teaches about Prayer

11 “Let me ask you this: Do you know of any father who would give his son a snake on a plate when he asked for a serving of fish?[g] Of course not! 12 Do you know of any father who would give his daughter a spider when she had asked for an egg? Of course not! 13 If imperfect parents know how to lovingly take care of their children and give them what they need, how much more will the perfect heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit’s fullness when his children ask him.”

Galatians 5:22-23 Fruit of the Spirit

But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, the peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.

1 Corinthians 13 Love the Motivation of Our Lives

4 Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. 5 Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. 6 Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. 7 Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.
