A burglar had been casing a house for some time. Finally, he saw the owners leave for what appeared to be an extended trip. That night he broke in through a window and was trying to find his way in the dark when he heard what seemed to him to be the voice of an old lady saying, "Shame on you! I see you, and Jesus sees you!"

Startled, the burglar says, "Quiet, Grandma, or you're gonna get hurt!" He shines his flashlight all around, but no Grandma. Again the voice, "Shame on you! I see you, and Jesus sees you!"

Finally, the beam of the flashlight finds a large cage and in it a riled up parrot. Relieved, the burglar finds the light switch and turns it on, only to spot by the parrot’s cage an enormous Rottweiler snarling at him. Just then the parrot screams, "Sic 'em, Jesus!”

Continuing in our series on the Sermon on the Mount, God’s Upside Down Kingdom, we now come to a very hard-hitting issue that has always been a struggle for people throughout history.

Do you remember that Sunday School song: Oh be careful little eyes?

Did you know that advertisers now use technology to help understand what catches the attention of the human eye? They actually hook people up to these machines and show them commercials, and a laser follows the person’s eye movement so researchers can know exactly which components of the commercial is most eye-catching. If there’s a nice car, they can see if that catches your attention. If there’s a scantily clad woman, they can see that as well.

Can you imagine what it would be like if this morning I showed a portion of YOUR eye movement; better yet - the movies that play through your brain every day? What if I could have a device here that would lay your life out on the screen for us all to see. Wouldn’t THAT be something? Lol. No thanks!

Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
