PSALMS SERIES: WEEK 01 - PSALM 100 “HIS LOVE ENDURES”

Sometimes I think we come into this place and we leave our stories outside. Sometimes I think we come in here and we try to separate ourselves from the things that have distracted us or overpowered us all week. And yet, that’s not being true to what it means to be fully devoted to following Jesus.

Yes, there are times when following Jesus makes you feel on top of the world - and you experience a season of blessing, and it’s all good. But those times can make you feel like the times where things AREN’T going so well - well, those stories some people feel the need to keep quiet about; those stories somehow seem to be meant to be kept outside of the Church.

Have you ever thought that maybe it’s precisely those times where God beckons you, draws you, calls to you to come and bring all those thoughts with you, and to bring them to HIs feet in this place. Maybe He invites you to come in with all those things that are just weighing heavy on your heart, occupying your mind.

Here’s the truth of Scripture - be it good times or bad, God invites you to share your heart with Him.

The Psalms that we find in Scripture are intended to bring power into our lives during the seasons of our lives. You read through the Psalms and you’ll find different types of meditations, different sounding songs - and this is because, I believe, that there are different types of seasons we all go through. And through those seasons, we find that the people of God, the people who have lived a dynamic relationship with God, have learned to lean into God in good times and in bad. And that in leaning in, they find what they need in the stories of their lives.
