MOONRISE KINGDOM (2012, dir. Wes Anderson)
Wes Anderson delivers his signature unique style and perfectly centered frames revolving around two young star crossed outcasts determined to make a life for themselves. The mixture of dry humor, earnestness, and warmth meld together to construct a fantasy world where the adolescent protagonists are often more comfortable in their own skin than the adults. Camerawork from cinematographer Robert Yeoman gives the film a feel that's sometimes as cold and flat as Suzy and Sam. Guided by a score from Alexandre Desplat that's every bit as whimsical as the film itself, Moonrise Kingdom shows Anderson firing on all creative cylinders.
