Stacy-Ann Buchanan is a Toronto-based actress, producer and filmmaker. She's also become one of the leading voices of mental health advocacy in Canada.
Her documentary, The Blind Stigma, was released February 7, 2015. The Blind Stigma discusses mental health specifically in the black Canadian community, with different people sharing their stories - including Stacy-Ann herself.
Stacy-Ann shares her experiences with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation with Pop& Down and goes into further detail about The Blind Stigma and her perspective of the stigmatization of mental illness within the black community.
Stacy-Ann also discusses how inspired she is by Star Trek: Discovery's Sonequa Martin-Green, Jordan Peele and Marsai Martin, the escapism of Disney films and how meditation is an important component of her self-care practice.
