Aaron and Josh are here for their latest TV retrospective. For December the brothers are celebrating the 20th anniversary of “A Johnny Bravo Christmas.” Available to stream on YouTube.

Johnny Bravo was created by Van Partible. The cartoon is about a muscle-bound narcissist named Johnny Bravo (Jeff Bennett, Young Justice). Episodes often center on Johnny’s attempts to score a date, usually leading to women pummeling Johnny in over-the-top fashion.

The series premiered on Cartoon Network in 1997, after a prolonged test run. The series ended in 2004, after 67 episodes. It briefly returned for a Bollywood-themed revival in India.

“A Johnny Bravo Christmas” first aired on December 7, 2001. The special tells the story of Johnny’s journey to the North Pole, after he forgets to deliver his and Momma’s (Gloria Marquette, And Just Like That…) letters to Santa. Joining him is the neighbor girl, Little Suzy (Mae Whitman, Avatar: The Last Airbender). Donny Osmond (The Masked Singer), who played himself in a previous episode, makes a special guest appearance.

Josh and Aaron discuss the history of Johnny Bravo before delving into the Christmas special. Topics include the characters, humor, and how the episode compares to other holiday television.

For a podcast on another Cartoon Network show, you can listen to Josh and Aaron talk about Dexter’s Laboratory.
