Ann and  Larry  interview Woodbine Jockey Rafael Hernandez, who discusses winning his 3,000th race recently and how much it meant to him  and talks about  his riding career to date. Raphael also discusses  where his career started and who supported his decision to ride the most and talks about his mounts tomorrow at Woodbine in the Woodbine Oaks and the Plate Trial Stakes. Horse Racing Writer Jennifer Morrison , who discusses Quarter Horse racing at Ajax Downs and some of the upcoming special days over the next few weeks and how attendance and betting handles have been to date. She also talks about the Woodbine Oaks at Woodbine tomorrow and gives her selection as a potential winner and discusses how she became so involved in the horse racing industry. Woodbine’s Marketing Manager Racing and Wagring Tony Elliott, who  discusses some of the stakes races tonight at Woodbine Mohawk Park and some of the other major harness races over the summer. Tony also talks about Sunday’s racing card at Woodbine and why the Woodbine Oaks has become an in important prep race for the King’s Plate and mentions whether there has been any news out of Buckingham Palace on whether the King will be attending the  King’s Plate in August. In our feature, ‘In Case You Missed It’ A Look At The Way It Was In Horse Racing News, Larry  discusses the selection of retired Canadian Jockey Russel Baze, who was named this week the winner of the Avelino Gomez Award and also discusses the recent news of Golden Gate Racetrack in California that is  being shut down for good later this year and some of the reasons behind this decision. Larry also  provides  his ‘Ponies Picks of the Day’ selections for several North American Racetracks today.

Jennifer originally talks about the current Quarter Horse race meet at Ajax Downs and discusses horse population at the track, special days of racing still to come and how betting handles have been to date. Jennifer also talks about tomorrows Woodbine Oaks and gives her selectiion for the race and why she likes this Filly and also talks about how and why she became so heavily interested in horse racing. Jennifer also discusses  the Plate Trial Stakes tomorrow at Woodbine and mentions how her book on the racing career of Mighty Heart was warmly  welcomed by  ‘horsepeople’ and talks about some of the other current writing projects that she is continuing to work on.

Tony discusses tonights card of racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park which includes some Ontario Sires Stakes races for the three year old pacing colts and geldings. He also talks about the upcoming weeks of Standardbred racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park which will lead into the Grand Circuit  Stakes events in August and September. Tony also discusses racing at Woodbine tomorrow and why the Woodbine Oaks has become such an important prep race for the King’s Plate and to his knowledge, has there been any response from the Royal Family on whether the King may attend the King’s Plate this year. He also discusses the major differences between Thoroughbred and Stanadardbred racing and whether his past experience with Clinton Raceway and Western Fair in London, helped him prepare for a career with Woodbine.
