The Black Ribboner Otto Chriek becomes the iconographer for the Times, despite the fact that the flash from the salamanders sometimes turns him to dust, and at the very least leaves him rolling and, yes, shrieking on the floor.

Otto becomes a vital part of the staff of the Times. His experiments with dark light, however, will have some… unintended consequences.
