Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell from the Republican Party decided to step down from his leadership role in November. McConnell, who recently turned 82, has been a Senator since 1985 from Kentucky, and assumed a leadership role in 2003 as the Majority Whip. He has since been the leader of the Senate Republican Conference since 2007, being in and out of a majority/minority leader role of the Republican Party.
