Political Contessa

126 episodes - English - Latest episode: 12 days ago - ★★★★★ - 17 ratings

Women on the right need a safe space to discuss politics, policy and news, and ownership over the fact that it is ok to agree to disagree. It is our First Amendment right to free speech. Before we can even out the number of women in our local, state, & federal governments, we need to empower women to feel comfortable and confident discussing these and other topics.

I’m Jennifer. I’m a single mom of 3 girls living in Boston. I’m a lawyer with 2 political science degrees and I have NO problem talking politics with people who disagree with me.

I spent 3 years as the Chairman of the Massachusetts GOP and ran for the very liberal Boston City Council. I’m a frequent analyst on Newsmax, Fox News Radio, and Boston media. And as a Republican in a blue state, I know a few things about how to disagree agreeably.

Join me for fascinating conversations that engage and clarify every week and for more information and resources visit Political Contessa.

The Clear Path to Republican Victory

November 23, 2023 10:00 - 12 minutes - 11.5 MB

Today, the front runners for the Democratic and Republican parties are old men—old. One is 77, and the other is 80. One has been in office for over 40 years and can no longer conjugate a sentence, and the other, who has over 91 indictments against him, is in court every other day. I don’t see either doing anything for democracy or our country. As a mother, this makes me concerned about the kind of country my children—and all the children of the next generation—will grow up in. So, as I...

Leadership Matters

October 26, 2023 09:00 - 10 minutes - 9.65 MB

Whenever you turn on the news, there’s some story that’s just dark and mind-blowing, as if we’re living in a George Orwell book. And when you look up to the people who are supposed to make solutions to problems—elected people in government—what do you see? A group of people in disarray. It’s what happens when there's a complete lack of good, effective, and impactful leadership. But remember: as a citizen, you can get involved; you have the power to foster and ensure good leadership in ...

Leadership and Aging

September 14, 2023 09:00 - 14 minutes - 13.3 MB

Representative democracy is about representation by the people, for the people; hence, our so-called democratic elections. Through their campaigns, candidates are effectively saying they will represent the people’s interests. But when you look at your politicians, do you actually feel represented? This isn’t about whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, but whether our politicians truly represent the interests of today’s society. And I don’t know about you, but when I look at our gove...

A Leader Who Leads

August 31, 2023 09:00 - 12 minutes - 11.6 MB

Did you get to watch the first Republican debate? I’d go so far as to say that the debate stage was filled with boys acting like children playing in the sandbox. The only adult on the stage was a woman—Nikki Haley. A former diplomat, Nikki Haley served as the 29th United States Ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018. She also formerly served as the Governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017. I believe that we need a competent, experienced, and compassionate leader who kno...

Focusing on the Real Issues

August 24, 2023 09:00 - 13 minutes - 12.4 MB

91—that’s the number of indictments former President of the United States Donald Trump currently has against him. Recently, Trump was indicted in Georgia for allegedly leading a “criminal racketeering enterprise” to unlawfully change the results of the 2020 presidential elections. I don’t know about you, but if I get a parking ticket, I get stressed out. I can’t imagine having 91 indictments against me. Yet, not only is Trump defending against the allegations leveled against him—he’s a...

Do you ever feel like you’re living on Mars? Do you sometimes look at the news and, all of a sudden, you hear the Talking Heads song in your head and think “How did I get here?” Do you ever wonder if politicians ask themselves “My God, what have I done?” or “Am I right? Am I wrong?” If you do, then you must have been watching the news about Ron DeSantis, who continues to serve as the Governor of Florida while campaigning for the Republican Party nomination in the 2024 presidential primaries....

The Power of Women Needs the Power of Women

June 29, 2023 09:00 - 14 minutes - 13.2 MB

What could young female voices do to improve the world for their own generation? Women drive 70 to 80 percent of all consumer purchasing though their buying power and influence, yet their views, opinions, and voices are seldom heard on the political platform when it comes to fiscal responsibility. Women are the child-bearers and, often, the primary child caregivers, yet our voices are often muted when it comes to topics like abortion and education. Women in Politics: Why I Support Nikki Haley’s Presidential Run

June 08, 2023 09:00 - 15 minutes - 14.5 MB

Women haven’t always been part of the political landscape. Trailblazers like Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor fought for the right to represent their country, make laws that make us all more equal, and inspired generations of women to get involved in politics, like me. Justice O’Connor’s career inspired me to change my major in college from biology to political science. May 11, 2023 09:00 - 12 minutes - 11.2 MB

Being a mother is the most important job in the world. So why are moms given so little support, recognition, and respect? As a mom and a career woman, I’ve faced a double standard that men never even have to consider. I lost count of the number of people who questioned me about where my children were and who was taking care of them. Did my ex-husband ever face this kind of interrogation? Of course not. My experience isn’t unique, moms across the country are burning the candle at both e...

Biden’s Run For A Second Term: The Whole World’s Laughing

May 04, 2023 09:00 - 13 minutes - 12.7 MB

My idea of fairness compared to Joe Biden’s are two very different things. While Biden wants to give people a free pass and endorse sitting at home, playing video games and eating snacks while getting paid for it, I think everyone should work and contribute to society. Biden also thinks it’s fair that the reputation and standing of the U.S. should suffer so that he can retain the power of the presidency. But is it fair for the U.S. to be represented on the world stage by an 80-year-old ma...

Hypocrisy at Harvard: Ken Griffin’s $300 Million Donation Riles Liberal Snowflakes

April 20, 2023 09:00 - 11 minutes - 10.4 MB

As a fiscal conservative, it makes my blood boil to see liberal hypocrisy around money, especially their outrage over whose money they deem acceptable and will accept. Donations from convicted criminals like Jeffrey Epstein are welcomed with open arms, while donations from Republican supporters are met with protests and outrage. Why should it matter who donations come from when donors don’t have any say about where the money goes or have any input into university policy?  This week I addres...

Mental Health Crisis & Gun Reform: What Legislators Need To Do To Keep Us Safe

April 06, 2023 09:00 - 18 minutes - 16.5 MB

I have spent some time around guns, know how to fire a weapon, and am a proud supporter of the Second Amendment so I know a thing or two about what responsible firearm ownership looks like. That’s why the tragic school shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville that killed three adults and three nine-year-old children is so shocking and horrific. Guns aren’t the problem. The problem is who has access to the guns. Our lawmakers are letting us down by failing to pass laws that would keep gun...
