The culture and philosophy of white supremacy that existed in the South prior to the end of the Civil War didn't end with the South's defeat. Many of the evils of slavery were repackaged and absorbed by the system that replaced it... segregation.

This episode follows the history of how segregation came to exist and builds up to the freedom movement that began in St. Augustine Florida in 1963.

This is part one of a three part series on the freedom movement in St. Augustine.
