We discuss two of our top picks for the winter film season.

On this episode, we take a look at two of our most anticipated films of the season--Damian Chazelle's "La La Land" and Martin Scorsese's "Silence," based on the novel by Shusaku Endo. Polar opposites in basically every sense, we enjoyed both and in recent days have continued to discuss themes and questions they raised.

We try to touch on some of the major themes without spoiling anything, but would love to go deeper with anyone who has seen one or both. Shoot us an email -- parks.erik(at)gmail(dot)com --, comment below, or Tweet at us (@cathparks or @erik_parks1).

(Also, please overlook the audio issues. We were so excited to discuss these movies that we were apparently dancing in our seats.)
