Barbie was Ruth Handler's creation borrowed from a German Sex Doll she picked up while on vacation in Switzerland. Ruth fought with the all male Mattel executives to bring this toy into every little girl's hands. Barbie showed little girls that woman had the power to be anything they wanted to be, not just housewives and mothers. Despite public outcry on Barbie's unrealistic body and Mattel cooking the books, Barbie is still going strong today.
