Pod'N Me

281 episodes - English - Latest episode: 4 days ago -

This is a weekly podcast with me, my mic, and my friends. We call our weekly segments a Pod’n Meetin’ and it is released on midweek service day... Wednesday. I also do interviews that are released once a month or whenever I can get them released with some of the wonderful folks I’ve met over the years. I have no huge ambitions with this other than to share a story and hopefully have a laugh along the way. I am a pastor and was raised in a pastor's home. I've had the high honor of meeting some special folks along the way. It's my desire to have some meaningful conversations and give hope to someone who needs it. Hershall is my one listener! God bless!

Water We Talkin' Bout? Requestimony Time

July 10, 2024 07:00 - 56 minutes - 38.5 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, it was an appanage (big word for special favor) to have you on today's program via the dialing/answering device. We got to discuss the events of the last Youth Camp week that left us all parched. We lacked a constant water supply which caused a great deal of struggle. All of the bragging we did last week, we had to apologize for... We did discuss some very relevant topics including: day service board member attire (big word for clothes), Hair-netted Maintenanc...

Preaching Advice and Youth Camp Stories

July 03, 2024 07:00 - 50 minutes - 34.6 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, today got rather serious and it happened rather fast. Gen Z Boy, Brooks came in talking about a sermon he heard recently that was dated and the topic had lost some relevance and that spurred (cowboy sounding word) a long conversation that was more ministerial advice than anything (and I know for a fact that we aren't authorized to give out that kind of advice). We finally finished that segment and I played a song as I do sometimes that interfered with a new...

T-Shirt Witnessing and the Collywobbles

June 26, 2024 07:00 - 45 minutes - 31 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, we had to deal with a bunch of things during the recording process. For instance,  the Deacon had some technical difficulties with his headphones. when that happened I paused the show and forgot to push record again and it costed us about six minutes of the most underwhelming content that we'll never get back. We followed that with some wonderful discussion about how Christians witnessed in the 80s and 90s with some great T-shirt material. Then we had a col...

Onishambles and Peezle-trees

June 19, 2024 07:00 - 56 minutes - 38.7 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, I wilI be the first to admit, the titles of these episodes are getting more and more ridiculous. (I think I not only will be but now was) I just hope that the trend doesn't mean that the podcast itself is going down that same trajectory (big word meaning fast flying path). In my defense, it is a challenge to come up with catchy titles which is also part of what we talked about... catchy sermon titles. We also did a new segment by Gen Z boy that included us asc...

Uncle Stank & Sister Skettyleg

June 12, 2024 07:00 - 47 minutes - 32.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, I hope all is well there where you are where ever there might be... (lots of there's and where's there) The crew was all back in Studio 18 for an action packed show. I do mean what I say because at one point toward the end of the episode, Deacon Dustin was very affrighted (big word for frightened in the past tense and since this episode was recorded in the past tense I chose to use that big word). The reason for his fear was a person came by studio 18 windo...

Campmeeting: Hypocrisy with Rev. Jon Brock

June 06, 2024 07:00 - 33 minutes - 22.9 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, we've had a wonderful 4th annual camp meeting and this is the final day. It's hard to believe another year has come and gone. We actually checked in with you at the beginning of the episode and were already under conviction about the serious content that we debated about whether we are going to be able to continue the podcast. I thing we will try to be back next Wednesday and see what to do from there. Bro. Jon Brock discusses the subject of what it means t...

Campmeeting: Macy's Cradle with Rev. & Mrs. Jon Brock

June 05, 2024 07:00 - 42 minutes - 29.4 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, day two of camp meeting we checked in with our Songleader to see why he's absent this year. He has a legitimate reason so we gave him an excused absence. For our serious portion we talked to Rev. Jon and Sis. Tamara Brock about a new ministry endeavor that is called Macy's Cradle. It is a wonderful work and if you want more information about it check them out at macyscradle.com. God bless and enjoy!  Support the Show. Connect with us at https://www.podnme...

Campmeeting: with the Ingrams and Birdsongs

June 04, 2024 07:00 - 53 minutes - 37 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, day one of our 4th annual camp meeting is here. There are a few missing in the studio but Gen Z boy and your humble pastor checked in with the Deacon to get the scoop. We finished the day with some history making serious content with a rare occurrence of our wives, Sis. Hannah and Sis. Amanda, agreeing to be on here. I hope the world enjoys hearing their voices. God Bless!  Support the Show. Connect with us at https://www.podnme.org/ https://youtube.com/...

Eunoria, Chin Bushes, & A Horrible Segment

May 29, 2024 07:00 - 1 hour - 45.4 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, I hope you don't quit listening to the podcast over this episode. I don't remember asking this before but we could use grace and please give us a chance to redeem ourselves next week during the annual Pod'N Me Campmeeting. We discussed extra letters in my name, murder mysteries, a word of the week that ended up being another sister to a now famous girl that me & Dustin one time dated (hint Piphnee's newest sister) (hence the Name in the title). *editor's note-...

Graduation Recap & AI Voices

May 22, 2024 07:00 - 56 minutes - 38.9 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, Good news: the boys are back and did we ever have a day! We start off with a recapturing of the Gen Z boy's graduation. Let me tell you, Hersh, twas a grand ole discussion. During the feedback the boys spend a while giving all of us men of the cloth (big sounding phrase used to describe the ministry) some preaching advice. Which, of course,  you know they have great advice. We then talked about some more germs along with bathroom hairdryers. We had a great ...

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, This is a continued discussion that I had with Rev. Nathan Wood concerning our relationship with the Bible. Driving Etiquette & Humble Interpretations

May 08, 2024 07:00 - 1 hour - 42 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, we had another day here on Pod'N Me. That's the only way I know how to describe it. The boys went on a several big rants whilst I tried to keep hold of the wheel. we had several close calls.... They started off by talking about driving rules that they made themselves. In the feedback section, we had an opportunity to allow our deacon to interpret a humble testimony by Gen Z Boy and it didn't disappoint.  We had a "Sentence of the Week" rather than a Word and e...

To Be Honest, We Love Dogs

May 01, 2024 07:00 - 1 hour - 43.4 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, today is a wonderful day on the virtual church cast. I allowed Bro. Brooks to start the program and he did a wonderful rendition (big word) of Deacon Dustin leading service in my absence. We moved from there to speak about the importance of keeping our word and it got plum (rural idiom to describe an extreme amount of something) convicted. After that we had some feedback during which the Songleader, Brad Cottrell, suggested that Dustin start a ministry doin...

Our Relationship with the Bible with Rev. Nathan Wood

April 26, 2024 07:00 - 24 minutes - 16.6 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, as we announced a few weeks back we are doing an interview series as some bonus content. Thanks to our Patreon supporters, we are able to produce more content that is free to the listeners. This will be the first of several shorter episodes that I recorded with Rev. Nathan Wood. He is a pastor friend that has been on Pod'N Me before during our campmeeting episodes last year. We discussed what our relationship with the Bible has been like over the years. I h...

Talking to Our Hearts & Piph-nee's Sister

April 24, 2024 07:00 - 55 minutes - 38.2 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, We finally did it... I know, it's been a while but we had a serious conversation. But that was after we received an unexpected call from you. We heard Deacon Dustin's new motorcycle and talked about Robert-wire tattoos. In the feedback segment we heard found out, through a mispronunciation, that an ole favorite from a Christmas episode, Piph-nee, has a sister named Heth'r. (the previous sentence had entirely too many commas) We had a wonderful  rendition (b...

Moped Gangs and Chicklamels

April 17, 2024 07:00 - 58 minutes - 40 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, what a catastrophe (big word that looks like it's pronounced 'cǎt-ǔh-strōf') this episode became. I don't even know where to start in explaining but we started talking about dentistry and it quickly was morphed (another big word) in to talking about eye whitening and peeeenched jaws. I shared a childhood teeth correcting trauma (big word) of mine. I then read an email from a valued listener that revealed the possibility of Deacon Dustin having the appearanc...

Deacon Dustin Was Raptured and Theories Conspired

April 10, 2024 07:00 - 1 hour - 41.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, first of all, thanks for your assistance in trying to help us locate the Deacon. We ended up calling you first and when you couldn't find him, we called our investigative journalist, Dink Burbank. He worked on the case for a little bit, to no avail (big word for productive end). Come to find out, an event involving a Rapture had a great deal to do with his whereabouts.... you'll see. After we settled that we strapped on a tin foil hat we borrowed from Bro. Bra...

Buttons, Burbank & Billy Bob

April 03, 2024 07:00 - 1 hour - 45.2 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, buckle up.... This is a day and a half packed in an hour. We had so much happen today that I can't even recall it all. We had some wonderful button history, talked about things that are obsolete, had a wonderful gospel song in the beginning. Editor's Note: after the song was played I tried to call a good friend of mine that is a southern gospel historian of sorts. He didn't answer the phone -and I edited that all out- but texted later in the recording and so I...

Resurrection Week Revisited with Rev. Tim Hudson

March 27, 2024 07:00 - 56 minutes - 39.1 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, This year for this Holy Week we decided to do something that we've not done just yet on the podcast. That is, to revisit an earlier episode of Pod'N Me. After almost four  years of recording episodes on this podcast,  there are many things that happened in the past on this show that has been so meaningful. One of those moments happened three years ago on Easter week. I had a good friend on here to talk about the significance of this week to the world. This ...

Decorating at Shechem with Jacob Wakley of Old

March 20, 2024 07:00 - 1 hour - 43.7 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, I'm glad you're here, if you are. In the course of the usual turn of events we had a many topic-ed service today on the trash-cast. We ended the program with the ever popular "Name That Tune" segment, but to begin with, we had a rather bitter start. It seemed that the feedback along with the general attitude of the boys was a touch on the bitter side. We did finally manage to bring the show around but the bitterness crept (big word for past tense of creeped...

Qwin-o Chips & Warshin' Hands

March 13, 2024 07:00 - 59 minutes - 40.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, we had a special guest on today. It is the Deacon's son... what a privilege it was to have him today. We took a poll on the Patreon page (see support link below) and asked who would be a suitable next guest on Pod'N Me and the voters decided a member of the family of our Deacon was their choice.  We had a wild ride today. This is a Non-GMO, Vegan, Gluten Free episode... speaking of that, I had a little slip of the vision when trying to read the label on the ba...

Detoxing, Su'dees & Cadoo's

March 06, 2024 08:00 - 57 minutes - 39.3 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, t'was a pleasure to hear your voice on the airwaves today. I was especially  phelgmatic (big word for not showing emotion), yet very ecstatic (big word) about your kind acceptance of the new premium content that we released at the first of the month. After we said goodbye, we had some feedback and that's where the concerning title came in... one of our listeners was asked to detox (big word for get un-addicted) from Pod'N Me. We also covered some very impor...

The Grand Marshall of Pod'N Me, Rev. David Brimm

February 28, 2024 08:00 - 54 minutes - 37.3 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, It was big doin's (lesser words meaning large performances) on Pod'N Me today.... Though I have interviewed our guest today, he has ne'er (little word meaning never) been in Studio 18 to record in person with us. His name is Rev. David Brimm and he is the guy that I called to get advice from when I was contemplating (big word for thinking about) the start of this trash heap of a podcast. I always wanted to have someone to blame I guess. We made much ado (li...

Phobias and A Change to the Show

February 21, 2024 08:00 - 51 minutes - 35.5 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, you read it right we have some big changes on the way this week that is completely explained in the episode today. I know you won't be disappointed with the collaborative (big word for combined faculties of mental brainstormability) efforts that we used to arrive at the  change referenced in the title. Before we talked about the change, we had quite a lengthy discussion about phobias (big word for unbalanced fears) that we have. Fair warning, Deacon Dustin is ...

A Gallon-tine's Day Party

February 14, 2024 08:00 - 54 minutes - 37.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, you read it correctly, if you did. Here it is another special pagan holiday that we as Christian's can all unite behind and I certainly hope you took our reminder last week and got Loretta something special to show your unwavering devotion to her.... Enough about you guys, let me tell you what happened here today. We had a fuliginous (big word of the week) time today. There was certainly some virtual soot that was sprayed upon the airwaves. We started off b...

The Favorite Child and Pastor Brad

February 07, 2024 08:00 - 1 hour - 41.3 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, you read it right, our very own Songleader had tried his hand at politics and now he is taking over as pastor here at Pod'N Me. (I'm quite sure he's not going to make it in the ministry but he gives it his best shot today. We had Bryce, my youngest son to here today to talk about who is the favorite child in this household as well as include some trivia for a beloved cow-dog in his life. Gen Z Boy was also here to do a very special Name That Tune segment in pr...

IN the Minister's Conference & Wearing Earwigs

January 31, 2024 08:00 - 1 hour - 41.9 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, you need not that I should write unto thee concerning the former portion of the title, because thou wast there. (previous string of words was KJV sounding) I am referring to your presence at the Minister's Conference that I attended last week and which you are a part of because your father implored (big word for beg) you to be. I have attended this particular conference on occasion but none was so much embarrassing for me as this year. I gave our audience t...

Tabor Your Neighbor

January 24, 2024 08:00 - 53 minutes - 36.6 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, may I ask a question? Do you like it when a preacher gets up and asks for you to turn to your neighbor (the person to the left or right of you on the church -not your actual neighbor) and tell said person something that the preacher said to say? (If you're keeping track, I asked two questions) Well, we have a new way of approaching your neighbor/person beside you in church. After all, you tune in to this show every week to learn valuable stuff and we keep deli...

President Brad-en & The Dorkies Group

January 17, 2024 08:00 - 47 minutes - 33 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, it's always good to be with you. Every week you show up and we try our best to do the same. Well, I don't really know how to describe what happened today. We did have an important update on Dink Burbank for those that are worried about his absence. We found out that Deacon Dustin has lived most of his spiritual life going from glen to glen and even to dales (words that dual as men's names and vales).... That realization came from a conversation we had about...

Handling Promotion & Bifurcating Eyelids

January 10, 2024 08:00 - 42 minutes - 29 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, how about that title? Yep, you can tell by the title that we had some varied topics, which is something I know you've come to expect. We started out the Deacon had an ailment (big word for health problem) that he asked our advice on how to handle... then as I do because I am a minister, I turned the discussion to a more spiritual topic. We discussed how we are supposed to handle promotion in the kingdom of God. We had some feedback that caused the resident ...

Interruptions & A Puppet Update

January 03, 2024 08:00 - 52 minutes - 36.2 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, Happy New Year! Good to be back with you (in a virtual sense). We started off the program with a rather serious conversation and it was really time. We talked about how to deal with life's interruptions. We then moved to an update about Deacon Dustin's beloved dog, Puppet. She got a gift which we opened on air. While the Deacon was reading about the contents of the gift, he made a costly homeschooled mistake which we didn't let slide. President Brad appoint...

Post-Christmas Blues, Reflecting & More Chips

December 27, 2023 08:00 - 47 minutes - 32.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, here I come a wrotin' (big word meaning the past tense of writing cause when you read this I will have already wrote -or typed- this) to you, again. I act like you don't know a thing that went on here today and you know the majority of what went on because you were present for the fun. When I say fun, I mean fun. We heard a story in the beginning from the boys (title used for the song leader and deacon combined that has somewhat become a term of endearment whi...

Basement Announcements and Loretta & The Chips

December 20, 2023 08:00 - 56 minutes - 38.9 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, we can let the secret out now. Loretta is a stellar (big word for star or outstanding) singer. She made her debut with The Chips in an unprecedented (big word sounding like a country without a leader but meaning unmatched) level of sheer (another big word that I really don't know but thought it fit in the sentence) talent. Speaking of podcasts without true leadership, Songleader Brad (vague reference to the new Pod'N Me president) just about gets ousted (I mea...

My Buddies, Glow Worms & Long Tongue-d Dogs with Emma Ingram

December 13, 2023 08:00 - 1 hour - 48.2 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, Whew (big word for exasperated sound), what a day! You were here so I don't have to share anything with you but for the sake of the crowd gathered here I'll give a brief description. We started off strong with a return from the very popular Christmas singing group, Hershall & The Chips! They will be with us throughout the rest of the month. Then, we made history by having your youngest offspring, Emma Ingram (affectionately known as The Emma-Fluencer)on the...

Christmas Parades and Toys By Birth-year

December 06, 2023 06:00 - 52 minutes - 36.3 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, the Pod'N Me Christmas festivities are in full swing here! We look forward to the month and started off with a proverbial bang! It didn't take long for our Beloved Deacon to offend a couple of groups of Pod'N Me constituents. We had a conversation bout when and how Christmas decor is legal to be put up. Hersh, the boys seem to be in a very festive mood this year.  Deacon Dustin told us about a trick that he uses to light his tree and also get around the wel...

President Cottrell's New Administration with Hershall

November 29, 2023 08:00 - 48 minutes - 33.5 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, It feels so idiosyncratic (huge word for odd) that I am still the one doing these episode descriptions and we have a brand new president of this lowly esteemed podcast. As you know because he called you today and got your full support, President Brad Cottrell has been officially inaugurated as the Commander-in-chief of the podcast and his Vice President is our very own beloved Deacon Dustin Wakley. As for me, my feelings have been hurt a bit but I am now Speak...

The Pod'N Me Presidential Debate with Dink Burbank

November 22, 2023 08:00 - 1 hour - 41.5 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, it's episode 200 🥳👏🏻 !!! As we told you last week, Dink Burbank is here again today for a historic day. The very first Pod'N Me Presidential Debate takes place and you get to hear the outcome. Since this is trademarked under the major network(s), I will keep the details to a minimum (big word for little said). Thanks for all you do and should there be a major change in leadership, I will always show my support for you as the greatest listener of all time......

Ashamed of That Tune & HUGE NEWS

November 15, 2023 06:00 - 1 hour - 48.4 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, this was one for the proverbial record books! We had Dink Burbank in Studio 18 and it was all downhill or uphill from there depending on how you are looking at things today. I can't even begin to remember all that went on so I'll just let you listen and find out that way... Please stay tuned til the end because we played an old game with a new twist called, Ashamed of That Tune although it wasn't planned that way. We finished with Dink Making a Ginormous-ly...

Smart Shoe Laces & the Power in Confession

November 08, 2023 08:00 - 40 minutes - 28.1 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hey Hersh, (new greeting that I hope you like) We had another sublime (big word for wonderful) day here on the virtual church cast you've came to know and love. There was another absence but we don't concentrate on what we didn't have, we colligate (big word for unite) behind what we do have and go on with the program. We made a HUGE announcement about the next couple of weeks that is no doubt going to amaze all who listen and bring glad tidings to most hearts. A pol...

A Lorry Load of Spiritual Advice

November 01, 2023 07:00 - 43 minutes - 29.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, We had quite a day here on the church-cast. To start with, our beloved Deacon missed church. We had a great fill-in named Brooks S. Birdsong. He is a young man that has been on Pod'N Me previously and he did a/an (insert catchy adjective)  job at filling in today. We invited our audience to just "come as you are" and not to feel bad about the way they look for the virtual service. We were incorrectly corrected by a listener in the feedback segment. I also b...

Drive-Thru, Hunting & Velvet Jeans

October 25, 2023 07:00 - 59 minutes - 40.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, We have a wonderful show lined up today. I don't for one moment think that you'll be disappointed (big word for malcontent). As the title gave away, we started with a very relevant discussion on drive-thru food and we even had the production room doing some great work for added effects. That talk led to a comment about blue and other colors of chicken. We seamlessly moved to other topics, some of which we brought up by the listeners in the feedback segment. To...

Hershall's Helping Heifers

October 18, 2023 07:00 - 52 minutes - 36.2 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, it was an honor to speak to you today via the telephone and we look forward to the time when you are in the new Studio 18. We talked about a few things prior to you being on here including a serious portion at the beginning of the show to remind us how much we need God in these troubled days! We also had some great feedback, as always. Dink was almost absent for his news segment which resulted in a last minute emergency fill-in, Rev. Andrew Blevins, who was...

Runnin' Tars Off and Maintenance Incidents with Rev. Andrew Blevins

October 11, 2023 07:00 - 54 minutes - 37.7 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, We did exactly what the title states at the beginning of the show today. We plum ran a tar off of the virtual church bus. Thankfully we were able to get it back rollin' in the right direction. Speaking of rollin' down the road, we shared a song that was requested by a real trucker friend that is also a Southern Gospel Music Connoisseur (big word for an expert). He will be very pleased to hear his request being granted. That led to a discussion on quartet ba...

Giving Names & an Un-Lit Joke with Moriah Birdsong

October 04, 2023 05:00 - 1 hour - 47.9 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, you read the title correct... There is a new Birdsong on the podcast, but then again, why am I telling you? She was a member of your church before someone stole her heart... We talk about the previle..... challenges of becoming a Birdsong. We also heard a song about a church pew at the first of the program. We tell our awkward first encounters with the new Birdsong girl as well as get her perspective on this trash pile of a podcast. (Hint: she was a fan bef...

Hurt Feelings & Arm A-trieving

September 27, 2023 07:00 - 47 minutes - 33 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hersh, I almost quit the podcast but after much contemplation (big word for ponder), I acquiesced (one of the biggest words ever used on here meaning to reluctantly accept) the fact that Pod'N Me wouldn't be what it is without me. I DID have to have a heart to heart talk with my co-horts. Let's just say they both seemed very shook up at the possibility of me resigning my all important position as "President Everything" on here. We did manage to have an excessive amou...

Dink is (almost) Fired... SKRT! with Brooks Birdsong

September 20, 2023 07:00 - 1 hour - 43.8 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, before you have your phone blowing up with upset fans questioning what has went on with our News Anchor, Dink Burbank, I ask you to please read the episode title again carefully. He is still on staff but he did have a very close brush with career disaster. We'll just suffice (big word) it to say that for now. After that Brad started the service with a favorite hymn from a favorite group. We disclosed a new detail on Studio 18. We had some great feedback per...

A Hushed Hershall & A New Studio

September 13, 2023 07:00 - 1 hour - 42 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, We were proud to hear your voice today on the trash-cast, though quiet it was... We called to bear the wonderful tidings of our new home, Studio 18. I had Bro. Brad & Bro. Dustin describe the scenes here in the vast complex that is Pod'N Me's new home. To hear them talk, it is something of beauty that we all feel proud (in the correct way) of. We even had a listener ("Anyone's Guess") send us some fan mail for the inaugural episode in 18 (that's what I type...

Triggered Family Trees & Bud-words

September 06, 2023 07:00 - 1 hour - 42 MB

Send us a Text Message. Hershall, a jammed, packed show is in store for you today. I decided to start off the show with a very moving account (otherwise known as a joke) about a newly wed friend of mine up north who's wife is fond of ailing fowls. We followed that by some feedback where so much happened that we even forgot we were in the middle of an email... Bro. Dustin was triggered when he though his family tree was going to be cut on and threatened Bro. Brad so much that I thought they ...

Tithe Talk and Questioning Why
