Right now, China is experiencing the most significant public protest of the Communist Party’s rule since the Tiananmen Square demonstrations in 1989.


The unrest raises questions about the viability of China’s zero Covid policy, and puts the ruling Chinese Communist Party and its vaunted leader, Xi Jinping, under pressure.
