Natural gas has been touted as the wonder solution to many of Australia’s most complex challenges, from climate change to job creation to drought-proofing regional areas.
Governments at the local and federal level have been championing the growth of Australia’s onshore natural gas industry, with the Prime Minister even pledging a ‘gas-led recovery’ out of the pandemic.
But what impact does drilling for gas really have on regional areas and can gas really deliver all the benefits promised?
