On this episode of the Chasin’ 28 Podcast here on Pinstriped Prospects, Ricky Keeler is joined by Alexis Farinacci and a special guest on the panel, Somerset beat writer and assistant managing editor Matt Kardos. The first topic of discussion was the trade the New York Yankees made with the Pittsburgh Pirates for starting pitcher Jameson Taillon.

The trio discusses whether or not it is a good move for the Yankees, the potential upside Taillon brings to the rotation, and whether or not the Yankees gave up too much when they dealt Miguel Yajure, Roansy Contreras, Maikol Escotto, and Canaan Smith to Pittsburgh.

Then, Ricky is joined by Jason Mackey from the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette. Mackey was the first to break the news of the Taillon trade. He gives the listeners more information about Taillon as a pitcher and as a person from covering him, the Pirates perspective on this trade, and where Pittsburgh goes from here in the NL Central.

In the next segment, the trio is back to talk about Adam Ottavino and Frank German going to the Boston Red Sox. Could the Yankees have done this deal with anyone else? Plus, how does the reported signing of Darren O’Day help what appears to be a young middle relief in the bullpen.

As part of our minor league segment, they look into the upper-tier depth of outfielders in the Yankees system such as Estevan Florial and Brandon Lockridge to name a couple. After reflecting on the life of Hank Aaron, they wrap up the show with a little bit of trivia about the 2010 MLB Draft in relation to the Yankees and their final thoughts, including some on the Hall Of Fame and Gio Urshela.
