Jacqueline Clancy is a certified legal nurse consultant and expert witness who specializes in cases involving delay of care and interfacility transfers. The majority of her career was spent in identifying gaps in care, reviewing chronologies/timelines for opportunities for improvement, deviations from best practice, and writing protocols for future prevention of injury, and malpractice. She designed an Interfacility Transfer Center overseeing 23 hospitals, and designed a Logistics Center for a University hospital.
We discuss how she got into this field, the recurring issues she’s seen in litigation, suggestions for how physicians can get involved, how to minimize risk to patients and how to minimize a physician’s legal exposure.
