He began as a pediatric plastic surgeon at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver for over 20 years where he also served as President of the Medical Staff and a member of the hospital’s Board of Directors. He then became the President of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group, leading until 2007 when he assumed the role at the Federation. The Federation’s focus on clinical improvement and innovation achieved national recognition and led to extensive collaboration with the White House and the U.S. Senate on national health policy development. Modern Healthcare named him one of The 50 Most Influential Physicians for three years. Today he works as a professional speaker, corporate consultant, and author.
