An update on the AACR Philadelphia Marathon Weekend November 19-20th. I'm in week 3 of training for the 8 k. I'm excited to support the American Association for Cancer Research the first and largest cancer research organization. I know that 88 cents out of every dollar goes to an organization responsible for funding some of the biggest breakthroughs in cancer research. to find out how you can help go to aacr.org/runners for research.

I'm going to talk about two fabulous events coming up. The first is Out & About in MNYK to Main Street. In honor of National Coming Out Day in October, Out & About in MNYK will host LGBTQ+ organizations and entertainment to promote Manayunk as a safe place that welcomes everyone September 30 to October 2nd.I speak to Mark Jerde, Owner Manayunk Chambers, Chairperson of Out & About In MNYK and Caitlin Marsilii, Events Coordinator Manayunk Development Corporation.

There are an estimated 30,000 people living with HIV in the Greater Philadelphia Region. Treatments are available but what if you can't afford rent or other basic needs make it harder take lifesaving medications? Gay Bingo is a fun way to support the work the AIDS Fund, which provides micro grants to take care of the things that get in the way of treatment. I speak to Robb Reichard, Executive Director of the AIDS Fund and Tim Johnson, AIDS Fund Association Director (and Bingo Verifying Diva “Stella D’Oro.”

Celebrating its 25th year, City Year provides an extraordinary opportunity for young people 18–25-year-old. Corp members work with students in Philadelphia Public Schools and receive a stipend but also leadership training, education grants and a platform for taking their next steps in life.
