Space The Rainbow

A heartfelt and insightful natural born storyteller, Jason Blasco has discovered an exciting array of outlets for his extraordinary abilities as a wordsmith throughout his multi-faceted career as a sports and music journalist, PR expert and blogger. Now, realizing a lifelong musical dream, the multi-talented writer – truly a child of the 90s hip-hop scene – is emerging as a rapper and recording artist with his highly anticipated independent debut Space The Rainbow, recorded under the moniker he has long used for his popular Tumblr blogging site, Blasco Says.

Never at a loss for a clever, pointed observation or whimsical poetic musing, Blasco still has a lot to say. Only now, working with notable hip-hop producer Issue-Ima-Beast (Cassidy, Exchange, Currency Records, Cash Money), he’s freewheeling it on an exciting new platform, with infectious melodies and beats to spare. Set for release in January, 2016, the expansive recording, which will include at least 15 music tracks, includes subtle commentary on the ever-changing social and political environment within the United States intermingled with comedy skits.

Blasco paved the way for this ambitious project by executive producing V-Nek’s 2011 album Robb’n Hood, his long awaited first-ever credit on AllMusic.com which included features by everyone from Trina and Cassidy to R. Kelly. Testament to Blasco’s ongoing impact on the genre as a journalist and PR rep, Space The Rainbow includes guest features by an exciting variety of renowned hip-hop performers. These include new school hip-hop artist A$AP Ferg, LGBT artists Azealia Banks and Angel Haze (two tracks), Shyne (who was once signed to Bad Boy) and Werd 2 Jah (“Lies, Lies”), OT Fella (“Tryin’ To Get Rich”), Redy Fire, Lola Monroe, Juvenile, Tha Reel McBoyeez, Boonie Bonnie Godiva, Sno Tha Product, Peebo Pyson, Sheellz, Phreeda Sharp, Rittz, Twan Up, Shyne, Lady Nile, Sincerely Collins and Jarren Benton.

“I wanted this project to be a subtle commentary on social acceptance, formatted in an entertaining way for the listening audience to enjoy,” Blasco says. “In a roundabout way, it’s about the social changes we’ve made as a society in the last few years as the world has changed so much. Through many diverse tracks and working with many of my favorite artists, I wanted to create a statement that is universally relatable and all encompassing. I want people to think, laugh, cry and enjoy themselves – hence the title Space The Rainbow.
