From this Sunday, Optus Stadium will be serving all drinks in paper cups in order to do their part in eliminating single-use plastics throughout the stadium.

Oliver Peterson asked Perth Live listeners on Tuesday afternoon whether they were pleased with the change or if it infuriated them. And to no surprise, many were highly against the switch up.

To find out the truth, Oly ventured out to Optus Stadium on Wednesday to trial out the paper cups (and a few beers) and offer his listeners some peace of mind.

"All the glasses we use here meet the weight and measurement standards," Mike McKenna, Optus Stadium CEO told Oly, reassuring that the new paper cups are the same size as the previously used plastic cups.

Oly: "I mean you have a sip out of the paper cup, and I'm going to go back to the plastic just to compare. There is not much difference really. It's mainly the aesthetics."

Mike: "It's just the way it looks and that's what we have to get used to. I think the question for us is, what sacrifice are we prepared to make in order to provide ourselves a better environment."
