A Year 10 player who struck an umpire during a match last Sunday has received a six-year ban from the WA community football tribunal. 

Former WAFL umpire and sports reporter at the West  Craig O'Donoghue says the ban was "deserved" and umpires need to be protected because they are so outnumbered in a football sense.
