Amid complaints WA Transport Minister says the 299 bus route cannot return

Earlier this week on Perth Live caller Jacqui raised her parental concerns as the 299 twice-a-day bus route that takes students to schools in Kalamunda was cut due to the new airport train line.

Rita Saffioti, WA Transport Minister told Oliver Peterson that the delivery of the a train line is aimed at reducing the amount of bus' that run parallel to it.

"There has been some consolidation of the bus route along Great Eastern Highway - work was undertaken to devise new routes to work with the train line," she told Oly on Perth Live.

"For many students and people there is more direct access to their schools but there are some where that access has changed and there's been a need to swap between bus and train now.

"We have had feedback so we are working with the agency to see if there is other tweaks we can make to the service and will be reviewing the situation over the next couple weeks."

Rita Saffioti also responded to a second issue that was raised on Perth Live this week. Caller Jessica alerted Oly that there is a known issue between the Department of Transport database and Police database which has seen some cars appearing unregistered and therefore police will seize plates.

"We've tried to interrogate this example - we understand there is a delay with BPAY between 2 and 5 days between payments - however there is a few things out of our control with how BPAY conducts themselves but I will talk to the Minister of Police if there is any sort of ability of proof of payment can be considered."
