Brent Richards joins Rob Oliver to give a patient’s perspective on healthcare on this episode of the Perspectives on Healthcare podcast. Brent is a Baby Boomer from Maryland. His interview took place during the world record setting patient interview marathon. It is interview 47. Just to put that in context, I had been interviewing guests for 12 hours and 45 minutes without a break when this interview started. Hopefully, you find value in hearing Brent’s perspective.

Here are 3 things that stood out as Brent Richards gave us a patient’s perspective on healthcare:

Quality healthcare is more than solely addressing symptoms. It is adopting a holistic approach that includes medical treatment, nutrition, and identifying the root cause of health issues.
By taking a problem-solving approach, medical professionals will be honest, detailed, and proactive in finding solutions to the underlying cause of the patient’s issue.
Patients need to be engaged and proactive in their own care: understanding their own body, self-monitoring, undergoing regular checkups and being aware of their diet and physical activities.
