Your first love for Jesus, that overwhelming reality of God’s love for you, of Jesus stretching out his arms to die for you. That there’s no greater treasure in life than the Lord Jesus. And Perry admits, “Last year I lost my first love.”
Then, what if we led with love? What if my first reaction was not to publicly call out somebody’s sin, but instead to cover over it? Not to excuse it, but also not to shame the sinner. Like Jesus has covered over our sin.
Next, why do people get ashes on their heads on the first day of Lent, Ash Wednesday? And why do people fast or give stuff up for Lent? What’s that all about?
It’s about remembering our need for Jesus and putting Him first in the 40 days leading up to Easter. It’s a conversation about how to be intentional in our relationship with God during Lent.
Then, you didn’t find God, he found you! He chose us before creation to be in his family. And at the same time he invites every single person on the planet to be in his family. So what is it? God chooses or we choose? “Yes!” It’s a conversation about a huge mystery!
Next, a few days ago a 19-year-old man told Shawna that he can’t wait to preach the Word. Shawna had the opportunity to pray over him and ask God to fan the flame of his passion for the Word. Perry and Shawna talk about calling out the God-given gifts in others, especially Gen Z-ers. Speak life and hope into their future!
Valentine’s Day can create anxiety. If you’re in a relationship you have the stress of figuring out just the right gift to give. If you’re not in a relationship, Valentine’s Day can make you feel you’re the only one on earth who’s single. Originally, Valentine’s Day was to remind us of our love for God. Let’s bring that back. You’re deeply, perfectly loved!
