Breathe in the Air of God

The Psalms are like oxygen to an astronaut in the cold of space. Today, John Greco, author of The Ascent, Pursuing Timeless Truths and Abundant Emotions from the Psalms joins us to help us breathe in the air of God! First, David is called “a man after God’s own heart.” And yet he commits adultery and murder as a fully mature follower of God. How do we reconcile the two?

Then, John’s son desperately needed his daddy to hold his hand, he was SO frightened. That’s what our Daddy in heaven does for us when we’re afraid, he grabs hold of our hand (Isa. 41:13). Next, Psalm 88 teaches us that even the most godly people despair and can feel like all hope is lost.

Then, perhaps the way to forgiving those who’ve deeply wounded us is to pour out our anger and even hatred to God about those who’ve wronged us. Last, maybe the reason the Lord takes us into hard places, where it’s hard to believe that God is good. Maybe the reason he takes us there is to show us our deepest need: Him!
