When you are living on the streets of New York at 15, you are facing some of life's great challenges. My guest today, William Michael Blackshear, Founder of Project Restoration and Author of "From Hell to Grace" uses that life experience to help others. His story is powerful. He wrote the book to inspire others. Project Restoration was built to help others avoid drug and alcohol abuse by keeping the mind stable.

If you or someone you know is dealing with alcohol or drug abuse, Michael offered these 3 To-Do Tips:

1. Take a self-assessment

2. Never try to deal with a problem when it's overwhelming

3. Keep a healthy routine

Plus, he offered up 3 not To-Do Tips:

1. Don't enable them- Their excuse becomes your excuse

2. Always make sure they are not left alone

3. Do no be manipulated

We also discussed things that trigger alcohol and drug abuse and what we can do to help those people.

1. Spirit of Rejection- Everyone is the problem- Spouse left- Loss of Job

2. Always listen to a conversation- listen to what their heart is saying- less focus on the actual words

3. Don't allow them to talk about the past

We discuss these topics and much more.

I hope you find this interview helpful, impactful and insightful. Learning ways to help our loved ones during difficult times is so critical.
