How does a General Contractor for the US Government become a successful Entrepreneur? My guest today, Chaz "The Skrimp King" Crenshaw owns several businesses, one of which is a construction company, Summit Construction, a mental health facility and most recently became the franchise owner of Skrimp Shack. His story is inspiring. His love for people is the secret sauce for ALL of his businesses.
We discuss extensively the key to a great culture. Offering financial literacy, great benefits, insurance and bonuses to his employees are VERY important to Chaz to develop a loyal and dependable staff. Chaz will be the 1st to tell you "Together is the Way" and HOPE, "Help Other People Excel" are some of the keys to his success. We also discuss the importance of always hiring a CPA when starting a business. Chaz shared the lesson he learned when 1099's didn't go out to all of his sub-contractors and he was hit with a 1.3 million dollar tax bill from the IRS. This mistake set him back for 3 years but he learned a VERY valuable lesson along the way. We also discuss the importance of being prepared for the next level financially.
