In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino are back in studio talking about the the latest USC football commitment from the 2024 recruiting class, Long Beach (Calif.) Millikan four-star wide receiver Ryan Pellum. The 5-foot-11, 170 pound athlete can play on both sides of the ball and initially didn't even have USC in his top-10 schools. But head coach Lincoln Riley and staff put in the work and now the local speedster will be saying home and playing for the Cardinal and Gold in 2024.
The guys talk about the impact Pellum can have on this class, what they like about his game and how the Trojans moved up from the No. 57 class in the country at the end of May to now No. 8 in the country, one spot behind No. 7 Oregon in the Pac-12 and behind No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Michigan and No. 6 Penn State in the Big Ten.
There was also some breaking news regarding the NCAA's thoughts on NIL collectives, producing their strongest language yet and going after collectives that provide inducements for prospects to attend particular schools or institutions from giving benefits to boosters who donate to NIL collectives.
With not much else going on in late June, Chris and Ryan solicited questions on Twitter to fill out the show with a mega mailbag segment.
