1. Commit to pray for them.



James 5:16 - Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you
may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. (ESV)



2. Acknowledge their pain.



Romans 12:15 - Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.



3. Remember your role.



A. Listen



James 1:19 - My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen,
slow to speak and slow to become angry. (NIV)



B. Assure them of hope.



Isaiah 40:31 - but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings
like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (NIV)



C. Stay connected



Ecclesiastes 4:12 - A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can
stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily
broken. (NLT)



D. Don’t give up
