Everybody loves a good story. Stories can capture our imagination and give us a new perspective on life. Perhaps the greatest storyteller in history was Jesus himself. In fact, the Bible shows that storytelling was Jesus’ favorite technique when speaking to the crowd: “Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable” (Matthew 13:34.) Jesus often took the most profound lessons of life and wrapped them in simple stories everyone could understand, only to bring an unexpected twist to the story so no one would forget. This week we’ll hear about the parable of the hidden treasure in Matthew 13:44.
