In this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Laura Pisoni, Principal Officer of the Bronx Community Cats. The Bronx Community Cats started in September 2020 and provides trap, neuter, return (TNR) in the local community. Laura shares how she and her colleague started the Bronx Community Cats during the recent COVID-19 Pandemic after noticing that their community is in need of TNR services for their cats. She takes inspiration from their previous volunteering experience at animal rescues.

Laura also shares the goals of TNR, which is not just population control for animals, but also attending to their welfare. She observes the lack of TNR programs and services for cats in the Bronx, but also cites the dedication of trappers who do exceptional work. She highlights the importance of teamwork in addressing the rising population of cats in the urban setting. This mission to continue providing TNR and provide welfare to the animals are among the programs that the Bronx Community Cats has carried out since they started.

“I think one of the most important things is to think about the community that you serve. I have met people who may not have extraordinary amounts of money or other resources who care very deeply for the animals.”  - Laura Pisoni

Tune in to find out how you can help your community manage the overpopulation of animals and inspire teamwork among dedicated people who care for these animals!
