To Pimp a Culture: Cultural Exploitation in the Music Industry

The gang discusses hip hop culture, including an examination of how the commercialization of rap music coincided with a shift in the culture towards the glorification of drugs, violence, and chauvinism. They explore why positive rap music doesn't get nearly the same amount of mainstream marketing and support -  but also how the internet and streaming culture is giving a voice to new artists that don't fit in the traditional box.
