Too often you over complicate things, and you then keep yourself from actually starting anything.

You over complicate a project at work. You over complicate that email you’re trying to send to a prospective client. You over complicate a gift you’re going to give to your wife.

Yes, all of these things should take good thought, and consideration, but you should not over complicate them.

Here’s your actionable tip:
If you find yourself struggling to start something, because it seems too complex, just pick 3 things you can quickly do to start. Then, when you finish those 3 actions, pick 3 more. Rinse and repeat as needed.

What you’re doing is you’re forcing yourself to start. Once you start that momentum will carry you.

One of the hardest parts about starting, is actually starting. Starting something, means you actually have to do something. You have to take some sort of action. It means you have to step into the unknown, because you don’t know what to expect. You have to enter the uncomfortable, unknown of what the outcome will be. Will it succeed? Will it fail? You won’t know until you actually start.

The hardest part of starting, is starting. And the longer you wait, the longer it takes.
