There's two groups of people on both sides of the fence yelling from a posture of legalism; and it's killing us all. But people actually need one another. We all need forgiveness because we all “know not what we're doing." Jay Bakker reflects on his spiritual journey and shares why he feels increasing distance between him and the polarized extreme of progressive Christianity. Raised by Jim and Tammy Bakker, the most successful televangelist duo in the history of the world, Jay's beliefs and lifestyle eventually deviated from his fundamentalist upbringing, making him question whether he could even remain a Christian. In many ways, Jay is a progressive pioneer who’s helped others develop a framework for a new way of seeing faith. We also talk BadChristian, David Bazan’s faith (like it’s any of our business), atonement theory and people who aren't gay-affirming as a result of faithfulness to their interpretation of scripture.

At top of the episode, John Mark McMillan, Robbie Madison and Joey talk "celebrity culture" in the church.
